Crushed by cage, engineman lowered without signal. Deceased was in the cage at the surface having drawn out his full tub, and gone to help the head banksman, whose tub had got away. Whilst so engaged the cage was lowered, the head banksman sprang out clear, deceased had farther to go and was caught by the cage. The engineman maintained at the inquest that he received a signal from the bottom and one from the banksman at the top; it was impossible a signal could be given from the top. Only the head banksman gave signals and he was in a dangerous position.
