- Details of Event
- Deceased, who had been working alone returned home with a black eye, which he stated had been caused by a prop which reeled out. He also complained that a boring machine had fallen on his chest. He returned to work on the three following days, and did not report any accident. On the fourth day he was seen by a doctor, and on the seventh day he died. The medical evidence at the inquest showed that he had been in a very unhealthy condition but the doctors differed as to whether the accident it any, had accelerated his death. The jury found that death was due to cardiac syncope due to purpura haemorrhaica accelerated by the injuries received in the mine.
