Fall of roof at face, road end, it fell of the lower stratum (fine shale, called ‘Clod’) occurred shortly after he had tested the roof with a mandrill. A prop was to have been set as the result of the test, but unfortunately too late. The accident shows the necessity of setting props as soon as there is room. Bute seam. Safety lamps.
