- Details of Event
- Deceased was getting coal in the Cockshead seam at the corner of a drift alongside a jig which had been driven in the solid. The bass 5 feet 10 inches thick, had been ripped up to the rock in the jig, and was supported on posts 5 feet apart set in line with the side of the jig. Without any warning a triangular piece of bass, 14 feet long at the jig side, 7 feet broad it base and about 6 feet in length, fell, reeling the props supporting it. The fall came from a smooth vertical slip running in the bass diagonally across the drift from the point where deceased was working. The bass broke off at a clean break on the third side.
