- 29 June 1942: While engaged at work underground at Wester Auchengeich Colliery near Bishopbriggs, yesterday, Patrick Bonnar (42), 65 Johnstone Street, Airdrie, and John Jackson (21), 9 Millersheugh Crescent, Larkhall, were caught by a runaway hutch on the main haulage road. Bonnar was instantaneously killed, while Jackson suffered severe body injuries, and was removed to Glasgow Royal Infirmary. [Scotsman 30 June 1942]
