Details of Event
Fall of roof on road. While working at the face of a roadway through a goaf, he heard ponces in the roof behind him. He ran outwards to avoid the danger of a fall of roof, but was caught by the falling debris. Had he remained at the face he would not have been injured. The fall measured 12ft. by 7ft. by 1ft. 6ins. The roof (strong shale) was considered so good that side props only had been set under it. Little Vein. Safety lamps.
