- He was pushing a tub of coal out of the bank when a slab of bannocking clod burst from the side and fatally injured him. Before the accident the clod was straight up with the coal, but the piece burst off to a weight break. Five tubs of clod had just been got down from the same place and a stallman had examined it an hour before. A "bump" was the cause of the fall.
