Killed by shot firing. Patrick Philliban, miner, Spittal Street, Stirling, died in Stirling Royal Infirmary on Sunday morning, the result of injuries sustained in No.2 pit, Millhall Colliery on Friday about midday. Philliban was working at the face and for some reason failed to take shelter when a shot was about to be fired and he was injured about the head and neck by flying pieces of coal. He was attended to by Dr Cowie and afterwards removed to the Infirmary. Philliban was about 55 years of age. (Stirling Observer).
