- 6 & 7 August 1900: Two Miners Killed – Two Lanarkshire miners were killed on Wednesday, while engaged in their daily labours. A polish miner named Pitronage, residing at Bellshill, was knocked down by a loaded hutch and dragged a distance of twelve yards in Messrs Wm. Baird & Co.'s at Bothwell Park Collieries. Death was almost instantaneous. [Bellshill Speaker August 11 1900]
