30 March 1920: Lad Falls Down Pit Shaft - John Peebles (14), son of Peter Peebles, Coyle Bridge, Coylton, near Ayr, was killed on Tuesday through falling down the shaft at Shieldmains colliery, a distance of 22 fathoms.
