- Details of Event
- Falls in Mine (b) Falls of Roof – He was working at the face of a 3 ft. seam which was overlain by a bed of soft damp lipey blaes, 3 to 5 ft. thick. Above the blaes was a thick bed of strong sandstone. He had been winning out the wall and propping up the blaes, when it suddenly collapsed and displaced the supports. He was buried in the debris and killed outright. No one witnessed the accident. The fireman inspected the place about two and a half hours prior to the occurrence and found everything in order. The blaes seemed to have slipped from a well-defined lype which would be invisible before the fall occurred.
