Deceased was shovelling ore through a crosscut to an ore pass on the south branch of the lode, when a piece of iron pyrites 3.5ft. by 3.5ft. by 16ins. thick, fell from the hanging wall, killed deceased and slightly injured his mate. It was unsupported.
