Ignition of gas.  NAS listing and death cert. Information from the Inspectors of Mines - 1929: Explosion At Hattonrigg Colliery, Lanark (now temporarily closed), a fireman struck a match to relight his safety lamp when he ignited gas which burned him fatally. The provision of a lamp fitted with an internal igniter would probably have saved the man the temptation to do as he did.
