Along with another waggoner pushed a full tub into the sump of the shaft, both had their heads down below the top of the tub assumed that the cage was in position to receive the tub without looking; the cage was 4 feet above the proper plane. Fortunately one of the two fell on to a bearer and was saved. New shaft, preparatory work in stone for permanent winding.
