13 December 1937: Miner Injured – Robert Paterson (30), a California (near Polmont) miner, was injured at No.17 Pit of the Barleyside Colliery yesterday, when he was buried by a fall of rocks and stones from the roof. He was extricated by workmates, taken to the surface, and subsequently removed to Falkirk and District Royal Infirmary, where he was detained. [Scotsman 14 December 1937]
