- Details of Event
- Owing to empty trams not having seen pushed far enough up a heading beyond a stall road to give sufficient clearance. The full tram which was being taken out from the stall road with a horse caught the empty and knocked out some timbers, resulting in a fall which killed him. His butty, and leading hand, was blamed by the coroner’s jury for not having pushed the trams up further to allow of more space, although it was at the same time stated to have been only an error of judgement on his part.
