- Details of Event
- He was taking a set of empty tubs inbye and was walking between the full and empty road by the side of his pony when another driver came out with two full tubs, the first of which caught him and knocked him into the empty road. He fell between the pony and the first tub of his set. He was not thought to be seriously hurt but he died the following day. On the road there were two canvas sheets for the purpose of diverting the ventilating current, 21 yards apart and the first tub of the deceased's set had just passed under the last sheet when he was struck by the full tub. He would not be able to see the other lad's light and the noise of his own set would prevent his hearing the approach of the other.
