Deceased was employed by a contractor to clear away some debris which had accumulated at the foot of a sloping face in a quarry. A thaw had set in following upon a period of severe frost, and while deceased was stooping at his work about 9cwts of frozen clay slipped from its bed, and fell upon him, killing him instantly.
