27 November 1936: Robert Parker, aged 20, a pithead worker, of Main Street, Dreghorn, near Irvine, has died in Kilmarnock Infirmary from injuries received on Friday at Montgomeryfield Colliery , where he was employed. He was attending to the conveyers of the coal-washing plant when his left leg was caught in one of the conveyers, and his foot was torn off [Scotsman 30 November 1936]
