- Details of Event
- It was his first shift at this pit and he left the ace with a full tub after being instructed by the collier how to proceed. He had gone down a stone drift, dipping 1 in 12, some 240 yards and was near to some stop blocks. In trying to pull up the tub he doubtless twisted it against the rails when it jumped and knocked out a prop and a stone followed the prop and dropped upon the tub and then slid on to him. Died on the 4th inst.
