- Details of Event
- Deceased and another worker had prepared two shot-holes each 2 feet 6 inches deep, to a slanting direction 8 feet apart, and charged each of them with 8 ozs. of ammonite. When they were ready for firing, the foreman gave the deceased one end of the cable on purpose to couple it up to the wires of the two shots that had been brought together so as to fire them simultaneously. The foreman paid out 99 feet of cable to a place of shelter and, without receiving any warning that the deceased was ready and had retired to a place of safety, fired the shots at the moment that the deceased was engaged coupling up the cable to the shot-wires.
