- Fatal accident at St George. Yesterday, Daniel Parker, a miner, residing at Regent Street, Kingswood was killed whilst going to work at the Deep Pit, St George. It appears that Parker, after arriving at the pit early yesterday morning was proceeding down the slope of the pit to his place of work when he fell several feet, pitching violently on his head, and sustaining injuries from which he speedily succumbed. Deceased is spoken of as a man of very quiet and steady habits. He leaves a widow and thirteen children.” (Western Daily Press, 20 June 1903). The death certificate reads “Daniel Cole Parker, male, aged 48, miner of 4 Claremont Place, Two Mile Hill Road, St George. Cause of death: compression of the brain caused by fractured skull sustained through an accidental fall. An inquest took place on the 22nd June.
