Deceased who was in front and his mate another young man of 19, who was behind, were lowering a full tub weighing in all about 14 cwt. down a long wall gateway from the face dipping 1 in 6.5 they had gone about 35 yards when deceased's head came in contact with a projection in the somewhat irregular roof and he was fatally injured, dying in a few minutes after he was released. They were probably hurrying to be before other men for an empty tub and just before be was caught deceased had asked his mate to come faster.
