Deceased was employed, along with two other workmen, in re-timbering the roof of a brow, about 12 feet from the coal face. The roof was known to be insecure and several props had been set. While deceased was cleaning the floor, preparatory to setting other props, a fall of roof 8 feet by 8 feet by 6 inches thick occurred, and inflicted injuries from which he died on the 20th May. The fall displaced two broken props.
