- He was engaged emptying the tub of a crane, by which the limestone is lifted from the bottom of the quarry to the kiln, which was nearly full and in order to spread the stone evenly over the top of kiln after taking off the catches to allow the tub to tip it swung the tub two or three times in doing so he lost his footing and slipped on to the stone in the tub and that in the tub following him fell about him legs and fastened him. Before he could be liberated he was overcome and suffocated by the fumes from the burning coal and limestone.
