Deceased was seen to place his head underneath the chain fence at the top landing at the pit bottom to speak to the hanger-on whom he thought to be on another landing 6 feet 6 inches below. Before he could be warned by the hanger-on the cage came down and struck him on the head, killing him on the spot. The accident occurred on the night shift when no coal drawing was being done.
