- Details of Event
- Deceased and another were working at the entrance to an underground chamber about f feet wide by 9 feet in length and 9 feet in height, which had been formed by undermining the side of a roadstone quarry. The rock was jointy, and one of the men was barring down some stone at the entrance to the chamber. Deceased was warned to keep away by the man who was working down stone from the roof of the chamber, but notwithstanding this he returned to pick up some loose stones. Some rock fell upon him from a "soapy head" or a slip-joint near the roof of the chamber, and caused injuries which resulted fatally in a few minutes.
