Overcome by firedamp. About 8.00 this morning (Tuesday), Robert Orr (38), Fireman, 4 Brucefield Terrace, Bannockburn, was found dead in No.3 Pit, Polmaise Colliery, Fallin. Shortly before 6.00, Orr went to make an inspection in the Pit and failed to return. A search party went out and found that he had been overcome by fire damp. (Stirling Observer).
