- Details of Event
- Deceased reported to the overman on 22nd June, 1914, that he had strained himself in the back by lifting a tub on to the rails He worked two shifts after that, then bad to cease working. He was attended by a doctor until he died on 7th January. Evidence as to a postmortem examination was given at the inquest and the doctor who made it said that the deceased was an unhealthy man who had (probably in childhood) been operated upon for curvature of the spine. Undoubtedly before June he was in a diseased condition, from which he would ultimately have died. All the doctors present at the examination however agreed that death was accelerated by the accident on 22nd June, 1914.
