- Details of Event
- He was working with another hewer in a bord 5 yards wide. The seam contained a stone band 2ft 4ins thick. They had fired a sumping shot in the bottom coal and had set a prop and headtree, under the bandstone. Oldham was filling away the last of the coals from the shot when the banstone suddenly fell away from some slips and killed him. The slips sloped towards each other in an upward direction, and the prop and headtree were canted out.
