- Details of Event
- Run over by hutches. The death took place in Stirling Royal Infirmary last week of Andrew O'Connor (23), chain runner, 9 Woodside Crescent, Fallin. O'Connor was found lying underneath a loaded hutch in No.2 pit, Polmaise Colliery, Millhall, on 25 February, suffering from spinal injuries and a fractured left leg. He had planned to marry two days later. His bride was to have been Miss Helen Lynch Morton, 37 Woodside Crescent, Fallin. The injured man's condition appeared to show improvement shortly after his admission to the infirmary and it was expected that the wedding might take place there, but his condition took a turn for the worse and any idea of performing the ceremony had to be abandoned.
