- Details of Event
- One killed and one injured. Norman was buried by a fall of 2 tons of rock from the roof whilst he was cutting at the head of a prop. There was a well joint slip from which the stone fell, and it reeled out a single row of props. The use of bars would probably have prevented the accident. He left a widow and three children. Howton, of Calvert Road Woodhouse, had both his legs broken thigh and collar bone.
