A balk, next the face of a stenton, had been shot out. A deputy went to replace it with the help of deceased. Some roof stone had come down with the balk. The deputy started to cut out a hole at one side to the balk, and set on deceased to do the same at the other side. They were just completing the work when a large stone fell from the roof, carrying out the next balk outbye. It caught deceased, and crushed his skull. The deputy ought to have set a temporary middle prop.
