- An endless haulage rope had got oft the pulleys at a curve, and after putting it right deceased and another werereturning along the haulage road to their work. At a point where the road had an inclination of 1 in 12 in favour of the loaded tub, deceased hearing a runaway loaded tub coming back towards them, and give a warning shout. The other man got into a manhole immediately in front, and deceased appeared to have run back towards another about 7 yards behind him. He was run down and killed instantly. The tub had been attached to the rope by a Smallman’s clip which had hauled it for a distance of nearly 200 yards. There was no evidence to show what had loosened the clip.
