1 May 1935: Robert Allan, a member of Cowdenbeath Town Council was killed yesterday while working in Aitken Colliery. Allan was on a machine run when he was struck by a burst of coal from the seam and was so severely injured that he died soon afterwards in West Fife Hospital. [The Times 2 May 1935]
