2 March 1920: Sanquhar Miner Suffocated - William Murray, miner, who resided at Chawick Mill village, met his death yesterday from suffocation. He was working in the Tower Mine of the Sanquhar and Kirkconnel Collieries (Ltd.), and was overcome by the fumes from a round of shots which had been fired. He leaves a widow and four young children.
