17 April 1925: Muirkirk Mining Accident - At Kames Pit, Muirkirk, belonging to Messrs Wm Baird & Co a serious accident yesterday befell Andrew Murdoch, roadsman, residing at Holmhead, Muirkirk. An extensive fall took place and Murdoch was caught by debris, sustaining a fracture of the leg and other severe injuries. He was removed to Kilmarnock Infirmary. Murdoch was the victim of a pit accident a few months ago. [Scotsman 18 Apr 1925]
