It was alleged at the inquest that deceased had received a wound in the head, resulting from a falling stone. No accident was reported to the colliery officials. The verdict was to the effect that deceased had received a blow on the head whilst following his employment, and that he died from cutaneous erysipelas followed by cellulitis and blood poisoning.
