20 June 1923: Fatal Pithead Accident near Stirling - William Baxter Black (19), a pithead worker employed at Manor Powis colliery, near Stirling, was caught in the machinery while oiling the driving shaft, and was whirled round for some time before the occurrence was noticed. He was badly injured about the legs and head and died on his way to the Royal Infirmary. Black resided at 20 Bow Street, Stirling. [Scotsman 22 June 1923]
