25 December 1939: Pit Fatality - A Bannockburn miner, Peter Morrison (42), who resided at 20 Lomond Drive, was killed while at work yesterday in No.2 Pit, Polmaise Colliery, Millhall, near Stirling. Morrison, who was a married man, had almost finished his shift when he was trapped by a fall from the roof. Death was instantaneous. The colliery was idle for the remainder of the day.
