19 August 1931: Young Pitworker Killed - Alexander Morrison, 20 years of age, of West Maryston Road, Baillieston, chainer at Cardowan Colliery, Stepps, was fatally injured while at work yesterday. It is believed, that Morrison failed to jump clear of a number of runaway hutches, and was badly crushed. He was conveyed to the Royal Infirmary, Glasgow, and died shortly after admission.
