- Details of Event
- Deceased, during his first shift in the district after the cavilling, was acting pony putter and had brought out eight or nine tubs. He had brought a loaded tub from the face and was about to bring the empty tub from the siding when he dropped down and died in a few minutes. The deputy was near him at the time. The road and ventilation were in good order. Medical evidence after a post-mortem examination given at the inquest showed death was due to heart failure, resulting from kidney disease, and so the jury found.
