- After assisting his two partners to fill into trams debris which they had blasted from an "end" he, without making known his intentions, left them and walked outbye along the level. He had been gone for more than ten minutes when an explosion occurred. Apparently at the time of the explosion he was near the gelignite locker which is said to have contained about 4lbs. of gelignite. After the accident it was seen that the gelignite locker and the detonator "locker" were missing and no trace of them could be found. There was no evidence to show how the accident happened. Deceased was chargeman of the pare.
