- Details of Event
- Fall of coal from the face of their working place in the Black Vein where the seam was about 7.5 feet thick with 10 inches of clod above it. The coal was worked on the face slip and overhung about a yard. The lump which fell measured bout 7 feet across the face and had both ends loose. Against this there was only one sprag which was totally insufficient. Prior to the 1901-6 strike this colliery enjoyed considerable immunity from this class of accident under the same conditions, but whatever the cause, since the resumption of work there have been several. 2 killed.
