He was knocked down in the shaft siding by a post or collar which rolled off an empty tram in which he was attempting to place it for the haulier to take inbye. The injury, which must have been slight, resulted fatally on the 26th December, apparently in consequence of its following closely upon a previous illness from which had not completely recovered.
