5 April 1938: Man Fatally Injured At Colliery - David Morgan (52), labourer, residing at Mansionhouse Buildings, Cairneyhill, was fatally injured yesterday morning in the course of his work at the pithead of the Fife Coal Co.'s Valleyfield Colliery. He was oiling points at the colliery railway siding when he was struck and knocked down by a mineral train which was being shunted. Death was almost instantaneous. [Scotsman 6 April 1938]
