- Caught in revolving shaft. John Moore (15), Pithead Worker, residing with Mr John Hannigan, Miner, 45C Fallin Rows, met his death at Fallin Colliery on Wednesday (18 January 1922) between 11.00 am and 12.00 Noon. Moore was discovered fixed to a shaft which drives the dross elevator and riddle of the washing plants in the top flat at the pithead. He had received very severe injuries and was quite dead when found. Moore was employed in the flat below and must have gone to the upper flat for some reason which is unknown but, apparently, he had been doing some sweeping. Nobody saw the accident happen and it is not known what occurred, but the lad's clothing had evidently been caught by the revolving shaft, as these were almost stripped from the body.
