- Details of Event
- The accident occurred in a stall in the Thick Coal. The stallman was getting off some side coal which was very slightly overhanging, and was working at the foot of it with his pick, while deceased stood a little distance away looking on. Suddenly a large rate of coal bumped off; the stallman jumped clear, at the same time shouting to deceased, who unfortunately jumped into danger, and was severely crushed against a tree by a portion of the fall, sustaining internal injuries, from which he died on reaching the surface. The fall came off at a slip into which the stallman had apparently undercut.
