Details of Event
Died November 11. Deceased was placing stone on a bench ready for a steam crusher to operate on when he knocked or scraped off some skin from one of the fingers of his left hand. He mentioned the matter to the foreman who was near him at the time. He finished his shift and worked the next two days. His finger became painful and the pain extended up his arm. On October 25, his doctor found blood poisoning had set in and he was sent to Newcastle Infirmary on that day where he died on November 11.
