Fell down the shaft from the surface. The morning shift had commenced descending and a full cage of men was just starting down when deceased came to the pit bank and ran forward apparently to enter the cage on the opposite side to that where the banksman was at the time, for the purpose of signalling to the engineman. The cage which had begun its descent caught and drew him into the shaft.
